Innovation grant application

3. Problem/Solution

A: Problem/Solution

3-A5: How will the innovation work and why is it innovative?

  1. Describe the technologies that you will use or develop within your solution? Live equipment status reports, industrial Apps, Monitoring tool.

The solution will be a following a microservice architecture mainly based on Node.js and python. The frontend will be built using popular React.JS framework. To summarise and provide AI enabled applications either OpenAI API or LLaMa Large Language Models will be used. Based on the physical aspects initial MVP will be implemented using Arduino. Mobile applications will enable the system to be present in the Manufacturing floor, For this we will use Flutter for development.

3. Problem/Solution

C: Innovation Appendix

3-B4:Will you retain all the IP rights generated during this project and/or how will you protect the IP generated by this project? Also, mention any necessary regulatory approvals you will need to attain if any.

The Code technologies developed will be our own IP. This includes the processes, methods and workflows. Any design innovation produced from this project will be promptly applied for IP protection after consulting the concerned legal entities GDPR seems to be the only regulation we need to adhere by at this point. others: Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002: These regulations contain rules about information provision, electronic contract formation, and commercial communications for both B2B and B2C e-commerce businesses Cybersecurity Frameworks: Depending on the sector, different frameworks apply, like UK GDPR for personal data security, the FCA Handbook’s information security provisions for financial services, and ISO/IEC 27001.

6. Team & Resources

A: Project Team

6-A5.1: Please describe any roles you will need to recruit for and your recruitment approach.

Roles to Recruit

  1. Node.js Developers: To develop the backend services in a microservice architecture.

  2. Python Developers: For building AI-enabled applications, scripting, and backend development.

  3. React.js Developers: For creating dynamic and responsive front-end interfaces.

  4. AI/ML Engineers: Experts in AI and machine learning, familiar with OpenAI API or LLaMa Large Language Models.

  5. Arduino Developers: For handling the physical aspects and initial MVP implementation using Arduino.

  6. Flutter Developers: To develop mobile applications for use in the manufacturing floor.

  7. DevOps Engineers: To ensure seamless deployment, integration, and maintenance of the microservices.

  8. QA/Test Engineers: For testing and ensuring the quality of both web and mobile applications.

  9. Product Manager: To oversee the project from conception to launch, ensuring that it meets business goals.

  10. UI/UX Designers: To design intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for both web and mobile applications.

  11. Project Managers/Scrum Masters: To manage the team, timelines, and deliverables efficiently.

  12. Hardware Engineers: For the design and implementation of the Arduino-based components.

Recruitment Approach

  1. Define Clear Job Descriptions: Create detailed job descriptions highlighting specific skills, experiences, and qualifications needed for each role.

  2. Utilize Multiple Channels:

    • Online Job Portals: Platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor.

    • Tech Community Forums: Engage with communities on Stack Overflow, GitHub, or specialized forums for each technology stack.

    • Social Media: Leverage platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn for broader outreach.

  3. Campus Recruitment: Partner with universities to recruit fresh talent, especially for entry-level positions.

  4. Referral Programs: Encourage current employees to refer skilled professionals from their network.

  5. Attend and Host Tech Meetups and Conferences: Great for networking and meeting potential candidates in a more informal setting.

  6. Work with Recruitment Agencies: Especially useful for finding highly specialized roles or senior positions.

  7. Conduct Rigorous Interview Process: Include technical assessments, practical tasks, and cultural fit interviews.

  8. Offer Competitive Benefits: Attractive salary packages, flexible working hours, remote work options, professional development opportunities, etc.

  9. Emphasize Growth and Learning Opportunities: Highlight how the role contributes to career growth and skill development.

  10. Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure the recruitment process supports diversity and is free from biases.

  11. Hire Contractors: There are Service companies that can be used to outsource tech talent as per the project requirements.

6. Team & Resources

B: Resources & Project Management

6-B5: Describe any networks/partnerships/advisors you plan to access for support during this project and in the future.

Software Service companies are an integral part of this. This partnership ensures we have access to diverse set of experts when required without longterm commitment. This is crucial in things like DevOps which ensures the minimal spending of available budget. Other is onboarding Obso's clients who has active manufacturing facilities by offering free or discounted early access to system. This provides the opportunity to test and iterate on the results with customers directly.

7. Market & Commercials

B: Route to Market

7-B7: Primary market barriers - Technical challenge.

Setting up the system initially for each client will be challenging. Cases of multiple geographical locations and vast manufacturing facilities. In case of on-premise elements, network access is also a challenge.

9. Costs & Funding

A: Costs

9-A1 Will you be using a subcontractor?

Yes, Subcontractors are easier to higher for specific expert tasks which wont be repetitive.

9. Costs & Funding

A: Costs

9-A2.5 List your most important subcontractors and justify why they have been chosen for this project.

Most important subcontractor will be a software service company. This enables us the opportunity to have access to a pool highly talented domain experts. The specific provider we were thinking of has over 200 employees and has built many solutions in UK and broad. They have previously built solutions in the scale or form that we envision.

9. Costs & Funding

A: Costs

9-A3: How will you access all of the resources, equipment and facilities required for this project?

Resources and equipments will be required to be purchased or sourced in house. Things that we cant source or handle will be requested as subcontractors. By the time we launch we will parthner with our current customers so that shortcomings can be handled with the help of a support network.
